Tonight’s 86-75 win against Va Tech was a huge win for a few different reasons. First, BC did not win a single ACC road game all last season. Tonight’s victory helps the Sophomore’s get that monkey off their back and build confidence going into Saturday’s game at Wake Forest. Second, BC’s leaders -namely Anderson and Jackson- had huge games. Jackson was 5-8 from 3pt land and finished with 22 points. Ryan Anderson finished with 26 and 9 definitely not something to sneer at.
Looking back to my three keys BC came through on two of them. Lonnie Jackson came through from downtown and they were able to come through on the road. As I look towards games against Maryland (13-2) and Miami (10-3) BC fan’s want the Eagles to start hitting more of their free throws to make sure that in a close game they aren’t losing due to shooting <75% fr0m the stripe.
BC Interruption pointed out:
On the night, the Eagles finished two 3-pointers shy of Donahue’s rule of 10 — hitting 10 threes (8), turning the ball over 10 times or less (6) and limiting opponent offensive rebounds to 10 or less (7).
I am new to this rule, but I think it’s a strategy for success. I love what Donohue has done since the Harvard loss. This team has turned itself around, put together wins and is looking to start another win streak as they have entered ACC play.
Tonight was a step in the right direction for BC hoops. It brought the team ti 9-6, it earned them their first ACC Win, and it was the team’s first ACC Road Win in over 12 months. If the team can continue to improve on their shooting from the line, the field, and 3pt land I feel it can be tough to stop this team down the road.
